The Greens just announced an agreement with the Labor Government to restore all of the proposed cuts to the Solar Flagship Program. Click here to watch your victory unfold.
20 days -- that's how long it took GetUp members to win the campaign to restore funding cuts to the Solar Flagship Program, which supports large-scale solar power stations in Australia. This is the story of how you did it!
Less than 3 weeks ago, nearly 40,000 Australians signed a petition in a rapid response campaign.
10 days later, GetUp members raised over $165,000 to get a powerful print ad in News Limited and Fairfax papers and members in key electorates wrote thousands of emails and placed hundreds of calls to independent MPs and Greens MP Adam Bandt.
Two days later, GetUp hosted a Canberra press conference with Andrew Wilkie, Rob Oakeshott, Tony Windsor and Adam Bandt to present your petition and your message: cutting renewable energy programs to pay for a flood disaster made more likely by fossil fuel pollution is not an option.
And just yesterday Senator Bob Brown announced a deal reached between the Greens and Labor on the flood levy that sees all $60 million in cuts to the Solar Flagships Program restored and $40 million of the $190 million in deferred funding brought back.

Because GetUp members took action quickly, collectively and in great numbers, together we were able to prevent a great step backwards in renewable energy for Australia.
The challenge before us now is to help the nation make a great leap forward to a renewable energy future. To do that we need this Parliament to put a price on dangerous fossil fuel pollution and put in place complementary measures to support renewable energy.
That's the way to a safer climate for our children and clean energy jobs for the workers of today and tomorrow. And like all GetUp campaigns, it begins and ends with you.
Thank you for saving solar,
The GetUp Team
PS - It's important to acknowledge when politicians respond to our calls. So after you watch the video, you can email or tweet your thanks to the Greens for championing solar energy in their negotiations with the Government and to Prime Minister Gillard and Climate Change Minister Greg Combet for answering the call of tens of thousands of Australians to restore funding to the Solar Flagships Program.
